About us

As far back as I can remember I’ve always been fascinated by the things that are “off ground”. The older I got the more interesting things that are “higher up” became. At the age of 17 I got my first telescope, a trusty Meade 10″ LX200 that has given me many nights of joyful observing. At some point I got sidetracked by other interests only to rediscover astronomy in 2012. From the start I’ve been hooked again but this time I focused on astro-photography and all the challenges associated with it.
With the purchase of a high end mount, a 10Micron GM1000HPS (that has since been replaced by a 10Micron GM2000HPS) it became obvious that it was difficult to obtain meteorological data required by the mount for optimal modelling.
Experimenting with Phidgets and Arduino, a “poor man’s” solution was found and the missing data available. Some more experimentation and the first product, MBox, was born.
